Deputy Secretary of Defense Bob Work will travel to Finland on Oct. 6-7 to address key issues related to U.S. and European security with several of the United States' most important security partners.
Work's visit to Finland will include bilateral meetings with Finnish government and defense officials and the latest in a series of multilateral meetings with officials from Nordic and Baltic nations to discuss security issues in the Baltic Sea region. During his visit to Helsinki, the United States and Finland are expected to sign a statement of intent to develop closer defense collaboration. Work will also participate in a news conference with representatives from the Nordic and Baltic nations to update the media on joint responses to regional security issues such as unprofessional conduct by Russian forces on and over the Baltic Sea.
