Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis met with Canadian Minister of National Defense Harjit Sajjan in Vancouver, Canada today on the sidelines of the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Security and Stability of the Korean Peninsula. They discussed the North Korean threat and the importance of maintaining military support to the global diplomatic and economic pressure on Pyongyang. They also exchanged views on a range of issues, including their commitment to working with Allies and partners on shared security concerns, including the D-ISIS campaign and support to Ukraine. The Secretary and the Minister also reaffirmed their support to the North American Aerospace Defense Command’s readiness to face current and future threats as NORAD enters its 60th year of Canadian-U.S. operations in 2018.
