Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook provided the following readout:
Today Secretary of Defense Ash Carter met with Deputy Crown Prince and Minister of Defense Mohammed bin Salman of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the margins of the counter-ISIL Defense Ministerial held in Washington DC. The secretary thanked Deputy Crown Prince bin Salman for Saudi Arabia's close partnership and reaffirmed their strong relationship.
This meeting provided an opportunity for the two leaders to continue discussions from their bilateral meeting held at the Pentagon in June. They discussed the fight against ISIL and the coalition's recent results, the Kingdom's military capability development, and regional security issues.
Secretary Carter underscored the U.S. commitment to the enduring defense partnership between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.
