A dusting of early morning snow covers two U.S. Navy P-3C Orion aircraft from Patrol Squadron 46 on the flight line at Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island, Wash., on Jan. 26, 1996. The Orion is a land-based, long range, anti-submarine warfare patrol and surface surveillance aircraft. It has advanced submarine detection sensors such as directional frequency and ranging sonobouys and magnetic anomaly detection equipment.
