USS George Washington crew members work to stay fit during deployment.
A sailor on board the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) works out on the hip sled in one of the ship's gyms on March 29, 1996. The George Washington maintains three gyms and over 40 pieces of exercise equipment spread throughout the ship to assist crew members in staying fit and comply with the Navy's Physical Readiness Program. The George Washington and its battle group are operating in the Arabian Gulf where they are conducting air patrols in support of Operation Southern Watch. Southern Watch is the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq.
