U.S. Navy and Air Force Team over the skies of Kuwait.
A U.S. Air Force KC-10 Extender refuels a U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet as it flies a mission in the skies over Kuwait on April 3, 1996. The Hornet was flying from the deck of aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). The George Washington and its battle group are operating in the Arabian Gulf where they are conducting air patrols in support of Operation Southern Watch. Southern Watch is the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq. The Extender is deployed from Travis Air Force Base, Calif. The Hornet is from Strike Fighter Squadron 131.
