U.S. Marines at Radio Island prepare for Combined Joint Task Exercise 96.
A crew member from U.S. Navy Landing Craft Utility 1663 gives a class on the proper wear and fit of a life preserver to U.S. Marines at Radio Island near Morehead City, N.C., on May 4, 1996, for Combined Joint Task Exercise 96. More than 53,000 military service members from the United States and the United Kingdom are participating in Combined Joint Task Force Exercise 96 on military installations in the Southeastern United States and in waters along the Eastern seaboard. The landing craft will transport Marines from the 2nd Marine Division to the USS Nassau (LHA 4) for the exercise.
