U.S. Marines from Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, begin to form a perimeter after unloading from Amphibious Assault Vehicles in Landing Zone Hawk, Camp Lejeune, N.C., on May 10, 1996. The Marines are part of more than 53,000 military service members from the United States and the United Kingdom are participating in Combined Joint Task Force Exercise 96 on military installations in the Southeastern United States and in waters along the Eastern seaboard.
