Air Department crew members on board the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) participate in a flight deck Scrub-Ex under the scorching sun of the Arabian Sea on May 9, 1996. The George Washington and its battle group were operating in the Arabian Gulf where they conducted air patrols in support of Operation Southern Watch. Southern Watch is the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq.
