U.S. Marine Avenger Gunner keeps a lookout for hostile aircraft during Roving Sands '96.
U.S. Marine Cpl. Orlando Villarreal, an Avenger Gunner from the 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Squadron, keeps a lookout for hostile aircraft over the NASA Test Site at White Sands, N.M., on June 15, 1996, during Roving Sands '96. Roving Sands is the world's largest joint, tactical air defense exercise involving service men and women from the U.S., Germany, the Netherlands and Canada. The exercise allows multinational forces to practice tactics, techniques and procedures improving their defense capabilities. The 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Squadron is deployed for the exercise from Cherry Point, N.C.
