U.S. Navy divers tend the diving crew during search and recovery of TWA Flight 800.
U.S. Navy divers on the USS Grasp (ARS 51) tend the umbilical cords which supply fresh air and communication to the underwater diving crew during search and recovery operations at the TWA Flight 800 crash site on July 25, 1996. The salvage and rescue ship Grasp is anchored over the crash site offshore of Moriches Inlet, Long Island, N.Y. Navy divers are conducting dives to recover victims of the crash and parts of the airplane to aid in the investigation.
