U.S. Marines from the 8th Marine Regiment train for close quarters combat on the flight deck of the USS Ponce (LPD 15) on June 18, 1996, during its transit to Liberia. Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Liberia, deployed from II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N. C., will take over duties from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, at the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia.
