Engineers take a break in the shade of a shipping container at Prince Sultan Air Base at Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia, on August 9, 1996. U.S. Air Force engineers are erecting 500 tents to house U.S. personnel conducting Operation Southern Watch. Nearly 4,000 personnel, aircraft, and equipment are being moved from bases in Dhahran and Riyadh to the remote desert air base to reduce their vulnerability to terrorist attack. Southern Watch is the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq. The engineers are from the 823rd Red Horse Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla., and the 49th Material Maintenance Group, Holloman Air Force Base, N. M.
