A Rough Terrain Cargo Handler crawls onto a lighter craft as it prepares to pull an ISO container brought ashore from the S.S. Sgt. Matej Kocak in Paldiski, Estonia, on July 15, 1997, for Exercise Baltic Challenge 97. Baltic Challenge '97 is a multinational exercise conducted as a NATO Partnership for Peace initiative involving more than 2,600 military personnel from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, and the U.S. The focus of the training is peacekeeping tasks and humanitarian assistance operations. The lighter craft are being used to move equipment from the Maritime Prepositioning Ships to the exercise area on the beach.
