Fire fighters use an ascent line to pull themselves up the steep slope from the crash site of Korean Airlines flight 801 on Aug. 6, 1997. U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Air Force, and numerous civilian rescue teams, currently assisting in the search and rescue efforts of KAL flight 801, evacuated survivors from the crash site during the early morning of August 6th.
