A soldier from the 642nd Engineer Company, Fort Drum, N.Y., uses a chain saw to clear fallen trees on Jan. 13, 1998. Numerous trees were damaged from heavy ice buildup following a January 8th ice storm which left thousands of upstate New York people without electrical power or heat. Personnel from Fort Drum are working around the clock in support of communities crippled by the recent ice storm. Soldiers are augmenting community clean-up efforts and providing trucks, electrical power, mobile kitchens, heaters, and more than 60,000 sand bags.
