U.S. Army Pfc. Luis Torres (right) throws a section of log into an Army truck as he helps remove a fallen tree from a yard in Copenhagen, N.Y., on Jan. 15, 1998. Numerous trees were damaged from heavy ice buildup following a January 8th ice storm which left thousands of upstate New York people without electrical power or heat. Personnel from Fort Drum are working around the clock in support of communities crippled by the recent ice storm. Soldiers are augmenting community clean-up efforts and providing trucks, electrical power, mobile kitchens, heaters, and more than 60,000 sand bags. Torres is attached to C Company, 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment.
