Landing Craft, Utility 1633 backs out of the well deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5) as it heads for the beach in Kuwait for another load of personnel and equipment on Jan. 4, 1998. The Peleliu Amphibious Readiness Group is participating in Exercise Eager Mace 98, a joint, combined, amphibious, ground, air, and naval training exercise with Kuwaiti Armed Forces. The exercise has been scheduled for some time and is one of many military exercises that U.S. Central Command regularly conducts throughout the central region.
