Pvt. Michael Lindsay says good-bye to his daughter Mikayla at the Kelly Hill Recreation Center, Fort Benning, Ga., before flying to Kuwait on Jan 20, 1998. Lindsay is one of approximately 1,500 U.S. Army soldiers participating with members of the Kuwaiti armed forces in Exercise Intrinsic Action 98-1. The exercise is intended to strengthen military-to-military relationships, improve readiness and interoperability between U.S. and Kuwaiti armed forces, and to enhance U.S. military force capabilities to deploy quickly to the region.
