Senior Airman Steven Johnson uses a hand-held compass to shoot an azimuth in order to position his International Maritime Satellite dish for a mobile phone at an operating base in Southwest Asia on Feb. 16, 1998. Johnson is one of over 400 U.S. Air Force personnel deployed to the Gulf region as part of an Air Mobility Command Tanker Task Force operating in the Southwest Asia theater in support of Operation Southern Watch. Southern Watch is the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq. Johnson is deployed from the 621st Air Mobility Operations Squadron, McGuire Air Force Base, N.J.
