U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jeffrey L. Marlow quickly establishes communications after his platoon was inserted by CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters into a landing zone at Shoalwater Bay, Australia, on March 11, 1998, during Exercise Valiant Usher 98-1. Valiant Usher is a combined, U.S.-Australian live fire exercise at the Shoalwater Bay Training Area. Marlow is attached to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 3 Marine Regiment, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable).
