U.S. Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) use the flight deck of the USS Wasp (LHD 1) to rehearse a Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel mission on June 14, 1998. The Wasp is operating off the coast of Albania in support of Exercise Determined Falcon. Forces from the United States European Command participated in and supported the one-day NATO exercise. NATO conducted Determined Falcon over Albania and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia with the agreement of those two governments. The objective of this exercise was to demonstrate NATO's capability to project power rapidly into the region.
