Port Operations Officer 1st Lt. Boisvert directs a vehicle into the cargo yard at Rijeka, Croatia.
Port Operations Officer 1st Lt. Stephen Boisvert, U.S. Army, directs a vehicle into the cargo yard as it rolls off the Military Sealift Command ship USNS Soderman at Rijeka, Croatia, on Aug. 23, 1998. Soderman, one of the U.S. Navy's large, medium-speed, roll-on/roll-off ships, is off-loading 29 helicopters and hundreds of vehicles and containers in support of the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division deployment to Bosnia and Herzegovina for Operation Joint Forge. This is the first time a port in the former Republic of Yugoslavia is being used to off-load heavy combat equipment in support of NATO peacekeeping forces in the region. The 1st Cavalry is deployed from Fort Hood, Texas. Boisvert is attached to the 839th Transportation Battalion.
