U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Gary Cleland winces in pain as mulage, simulating head injuries, is removed from his face after a joint Major Accident Response Exercise at Grand Forks, N.D., on Oct. 15, 1998. Cleland played the role of plane crash victim during the exercise conducted at the Grand Forks International Airport with the airport firefighters and military personnel from Grand Forks Air Force Base. The scenario involved a response to the crash of a KC-135 Stratotanker. Cleland is attached to the 319th Air Refueling Wing, Social Actions Office, Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D.
