A U.S. Army soldier directs the driver of an M-1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank onto a flat bed railroad car at the port of Pusan, Republic of Korea, on Oct. 23, 1998, for Exercise Foal Eagle '98. Foal Eagle '98 is a combined, joint exercise supported by forces from the U.S. and Republic of Korea. In addition to providing hands-on field experience for forces of both nations, Foal Eagle '98 was designed to test rear area protection operations and major command, control and communications systems. Various types of tracked vehicles are being transported by rail from Pusan to Camp Humphreys where they will link up with the rest of their contingent for the exercise. This Abrams tank comes from the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.
