Lt. j.g. Diane Quattrone (left), U.S. Navy, gives course and rudder orders to the helmsman on the USS Germantown (LSD 42) on Oct. 30, 1998, as the ship operates off the coast of the Republic of Korea during Exercise Foal Eagle '98. Foal Eagle '98 is a combined, joint exercise supported by forces from the U.S. and Republic of Korea. In addition to providing hands-on field experience for forces of both nations, Foal Eagle '98 was designed to test rear area protection operations and major command, control and communications systems.
