Aviation ordnancemen shoulder an AIM-7 Sparrow missile as they remove it from an F/A-18 Hornet on the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) while the aircraft carrier operates in the Persian Gulf on March 5, 1999. Vinson and its embarked Carrier Air Wing 11 are on station in the Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch, which is the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq.
