Gen. Henry H. Shelton, U.S. Army, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, briefs reporters during a Pentagon press briefing on June 21, 1999, about the planned redeployment of U.S. air assets back to their home bases in the United States and Europe, following the successful completion of NATO Operation Allied Force. Allied Force was the air operation against targets in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Shelton provided an update on the deployment of KFOR which is the NATO-led, international military force which will deploy into Kosovo on a peacekeeping mission known as Operation Joint Guardian.
