U.S. Air Force loadmasters brave minus-100 degree temperatures to push cargo bundles out the troop doors of a U.S. Air Force C-141 Starlifter into the Antartic night over Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station on July 12, 1999. The Air Force crew is conducting a humanitarian, mid-winter air drop mission to Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station operated by the National Science Foundation. The loadmasters are from the 62nd Air Wing, McChord Air Force Base, Wash.
