The USNS Red Cloud (T-AKR 313) slides down the ways at NASSCO Ship Yard in San Diego, Calif., after being christened by Anita Red Cloud and Marilyn Clemins on Aug. 7, 1999. The ship is named after Medal of Honor winner Cpl. Mitchell Red Cloud Jr., U.S. Army. The 950 foot long, medium speed, roll-on/roll-off ship is one of 20 Military Sealift Command ships under construction. Red Cloud is the daughter of the ship's name sake. Clemins is the wife of Commander in Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet Adm. Archie R. Clemins, U.S. Navy.
