Seaman Apprentice Timothy Lee, U.S. Navy, works in the glow of red light at the chart table on the bridge of the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) on Aug. 31, 1999. The aircraft carrier is transiting the Red Sea at night en route to the Suez Canal. The red light preserves the night vision of the crew. Lee, from Baltimore, Md., is a Navy quartermaster.
