David Lytle (right) talks to Lt. j.g. Santana in the Medical Department of the USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) after being rescued at sea by a helicopter from the aircraft carrier on Sept. 15, 1999. Lytle was one of eight crew members rescued after abandoning their capsized ocean tug Gulf Majesty in heavy seas off the coast of Florida during Hurricane Floyd. The USS John F. Kennedy responded to their distress call some 150 miles from the tugs reported location. The aircraft carrier had been at sea less than a day after leaving the ship's home port of Mayport, Fla., to ride out Hurricane Floyd.
