North Carolina National Guard members from Fayetteville and Bladenboro, N.C., help an unidentified woman from a Guard 5-ton military truck near Tick Bite, N.C., on Sept. 18, 1999. The woman was rescued by members of the National Guard from flood waters caused by Hurricane Floyd. Hundreds of National Guard troops in North Carolina and surrounding states been called on state active duty to provide disaster and humanitarian relief for thousands of people hit by Hurricane Floyd.
