The USS Grapple (ARS 53) departs from its home port of Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Va., on Oct. 31, 1999, on the way to assist in recovery efforts following the crash of EgyptAir Flight 990 off the coast of Nantucket, Mass. The auxiliary rescue salvage ship was involved in the search and recovery of TWA Flight 800.
