Rodriguez is piloting the SCORPIO, a tethered unmanned work vehicle from the Navy's Deep Submergence Unit Unmanned Vehicle Detachment. Duncan is the co-pilot and is responsible for the robotic hands of the SCORPIO. The two Navy machinist's mates are controlling the submersible from the MV Kellie Chouest, a Military Sealift Command Submarine Support Ship. Rodriguez is from Amarillo, Texas, and Duncan is from Torrance, Calif.
