The crew of the U.S. Air Force C-17A Globemaster III is delivering personnel and cargo to Hoedspruit for Operation Atlas Response. Operation Atlas Response is the U.S. military's contribution to relief efforts following torrential rains and flooding in southern Mozambique and South Africa. The C-17A is the first of several flights that will bring helicopters and military personnel to assist with search and rescue and with the distribution of relief supplies. Quinlan is an air transportation manager assigned to the 721st Air Mobility Squadron, McGuire Air Force Base, N.J. Markwith and Beyer are pilots assigned to the 17th Airlift Squadron, Charleston Air Force Base, S.C.
