A U.S. Air Force C-17A Globemaster III is given the thumbs-up to taxi for departure from Hoedspruit Air Force Base, South Africa, on March 5, 2000. The crew of the C-17A Globemaster III delivered personnel and cargo to Hoedspruit for Operation Atlas Response. Operation Atlas Response is the U.S. military's contribution to relief efforts following torrential rains and flooding in southern Mozambique and South Africa. The C-17A is the first of several flights that will bring helicopters and military personnel to assist with search and rescue and with the distribution of relief supplies. The Globemaster III is deployed for the operation from the 437th Airlift Wing, Charleston Air Force Base, S.C.
