U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Joe Martin reconnects the tail-rotor on a HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter at Hoedspruit Air Force Base, South Africa, on March 7, 2000. Two Pave Hawk helicopters were flown in to Hoedspruit by a C-5 Galaxy transport aircraft for Operation Atlas Response. Operation Atlas Response is the U.S. military's contribution to relief efforts following torrential rains and flooding in southern Mozambique and South Africa. The helicopters will aid in the distribution of relief supplies and rescue stranded flood victims. Martin is attached to the 41st Rescue Squadron deployed from Moody Air Force Base, Ga.
