Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen addresses the crew of the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) in the hangar deck as the ship operates in the Persian Gulf on April 7, 2000. Cohen is in the Persian Gulf region to meet with U.S. troops stationed there and defense leaders of the Gulf region. Stennis and its embarked Carrier Air Wing 9 are on station in the Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch.
