An audience of military family members, plus representatives of DoD organizations dealing with issues concerning military families, listen to remarks by Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen at the opening session of the first annual Military Family Forum held in the Pentagon on May 31, 2000. One hundred military family members, selected from individual command areas or bases, were brought to the Pentagon to participate in the discussions devoted to military family issues. Supreme Allied Commander Europe Gen. Joseph W. Ralston (right), U.S. Air Force, and his wife DeDe, attended the forum to gain a better insight into the family issues of greatest concern to the junior personnel now serving in the ranks of our armed forces.
