Army Staff Sgt. Kenneth A. Johnson looks to the scoreboard after he failed to make the final round in the men's 10 meter air rifle competition at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, on Sept. 18, 2000. Fifteen U.S. military athletes are competing in the 2000 Olympic games as members of the U.S. Olympic team. In addition to the 15 competing athletes there are eight alternates and five coaches representing each of the four services in various venues. Johnson's wife Nancy won the first gold medal awarded in the Sydney Games for the women's 10 meter air rifle competition. Staff Sgt. Johnson is attached to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Benning, Ga.
