Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen (left) and Chilean Minister of Defense Mario Fernandez Baeza (right) sign a new acquisition and cross-servicing agreement in Manaus, Brazil, on Oct. 17, 2000. The agreement will facilitate the exchange of non-lethal equipment, increase cooperation in the field and reduce the paperwork involved. It also allows the two militaries to exchange goods and services such as refueling at sea, shipyard services, and it permits Chile to help resupply our Navy in distant ports.
