It's another day at work for this sailor as over 20 tons of F/A-18 Hornet roars over his head and off the steam catapult of the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) while the ship operates in the Persian Gulf on Nov. 3, 2000. This Navy aviation boatswain's mate is monitoring steam pressure used to launch aircraft from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier. Lincoln, and its embarked Carrier Air Wing 14, are on station in the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch, which is the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq.
