Former First Lady Nancy Reagan smashes the traditional bottle of champagne on the bow as she christens the U.S. Navy's newest aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) on March 4, 2001, in Newport News, Va. President George W. Bush and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Newport News Shipbuilding William P. Frick joined Reagan in the ceremony. The nuclear powered ship, named in honor of the 40th president, is being built at Newport News Shipbuilding.
