Rumsfeld is in Europe to visit U.S. forces in the region and to consult with his counterparts and senior government officials. Rumsfeld will later attend the Southeast European Defense Ministerial in Thessaloniki, Greece. The troops are deployed to Kosovo in support of KFOR, which is the NATO-led international military force in Kosovo on the peacekeeping mission known as Operation Joint Guardian.
