Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld addresses a large audience of U.S., Turkish, and British military personnel at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, on June 4, 2001. Rumsfeld stopped at Incirlik after a morning of meeting with high-level officials of the Turkish Government in Ankara, the nation's capitol. Rumsfeld commented that he follows reports coming out of Operation Northern Watch, which is headquartered at Incirlik, very closely and was looking forward to meeting and talking with the personnel who make the operation work so successfully. After concluding his formal remarks, Rumsfeld stepped off the stage and walked into the audience to do just that.
