Lt. Gen. Ronald T. Kadish, director of the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization, briefs reporters in the Pentagon on July 15, 2001, on the success of Integrated Flight Test 6, which involved a planned intercept of an intercontinental ballistic missile target. The intercept took place approximately 10 minutes after the interceptor was launched, at an altitude in excess of 140 miles above the earth, and during the midcourse phase of the target warhead's flight. A full scale mock-up of the exoatmospheric kill vehicle is at Kadish's right.
