Meg Falk, director of the Department of Defense Office of Family Policy, addresses reporters at the Pentagon on Sept. 12, 2001. Falk provided information on the establishment of a family assistance center for the dissemination of information and assistance to families who might have had a member injured or killed in the Sept. 11 attack on the Pentagon. The terrorist attack caused extensive damage to the west face of the building and followed similar attacks on the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City.
