A temporary stage, bleachers and seating for the Pentagon Observance ceremony occupy the area of the Pentagon known as the Phoenix Site on Sept. 11, 2002. More than 13,000 people attended the service to remember those who lost their lives one year ago when terrorists crashed a commercial airliner into the Pentagon. Contractors, construction personnel and their families were honored in a second ceremony later in the day.
