Texas Congressman Sam Johnson, keynote speaker at the National POW/MIA Recognition Day ceremony held at the Pentagon on Sept. 20, 2002, signs an autograph for a fellow Vietnam War veteran. Johnson, an Air Force fighter pilot during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, spent seven years in captivity in Hanoi, Vietnam, after his F-4 Phantom was shot down on his 25th combat mission of that war. Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Richard B. Myers co-hosted the annual event.
